Rural Outbuilding Conversion Secures Planning Consent

Laurence Associates is pleased to announce the successful approval of a planning application for the conversion of a traditional rural outbuilding into a workshop and office.

The existing building is characterised by its stone walls and pitched slate roof, contributing to its strong rural identity. From the outset, the design approach was centred on respecting and preserving this character, while enabling the building to function effectively in its new role.

A significant proportion of the original fabric has been retained, ensuring the building’s authenticity remains intact. Where new elements were required, these were carefully designed to reflect the same materials and form as the existing structure. This created a cohesive and sympathetic scheme that sits comfortably within its setting.

The proposal demonstrates how considered design can successfully balance heritage and modern use. This approach was positively received by the Council, ultimately leading to the approval of the application.

This project highlights Laurence Associates’ commitment to delivering thoughtful, context driven design solutions that achieve successful planning outcomes.
