Planning Approved for Farmhouse Extension on Bodmin Moor

Planning permission has recently been granted for the construction of a substantial extension to an existing farmhouse located on Bodmin Moor within the Cornwall National Landscape.

Working within this highly sensitive landscape setting required a carefully considered architectural response that balanced contemporary design ambitions with the character and visual qualities of the surrounding environment.

During the planning process, concerns were initially raised by the National Landscape officer regarding the impact of the proposal. Through continued collaboration with Cornwall Council and productive discussions with the planning officer, revisions were made to elements of the scheme, including the glazing strategy, to ensure the design responded more appropriately to its setting.

Following these amendments, Cornwall Council concluded that the scale and design of the extension were acceptable within the context of the protected landscape.

The approved scheme will provide a significant enhancement to the existing farmhouse while remaining sensitive to the unique character of Bodmin Moor and its wider landscape setting.

We are pleased to see the project move forward and look forward to watching the extension take shape on site.
