Year-Round Planning Permission Secured for Established Campsite in Polzeath
We are pleased to have recently secured planning consent for the year-round use of an established campsite in Polzeath, Cornwall.
The campsite has been successfully operating for many years, providing accommodation for visitors during the summer season. However, its existing planning permission restricted its use to the summer months, limiting the business from operating throughout the rest of the year.
Supporting year-round campsite use
As part of the planning case, we identified that the seasonal restriction was unnecessarily limiting and set out a clear policy position in support of extending the campsite’s use throughout the year.
Our submission considered relevant national and local planning policy and guidance, demonstrating why the continued year-round use of the established campsite was appropriate in this location.
A key part of the case was also demonstrating that extending the operating season would not result in any material harm.
Instead, year-round use would provide wider benefits by supporting tourism and contributing to the local economy beyond the traditional summer season.

The application was successful, and our client now has planning consent allowing the campsite to operate throughout the year.
The decision provides greater flexibility for the established tourism business and allows it to make better use of its existing facilities outside of the peak summer season.
