Laurence Associates’ Planning Director to Speak at Groundsure Cornwall Women in Property Event

Laurence Associates is delighted to announce that our Planning Director, Liz Alexander MRTPI, Chartered Town Planner, will be speaking at the upcoming Groundsure Cornwall Women in Property event, taking place at The Alverton Hotel in Truro on Thursday 17th September.

The morning will bring together professionals from across Cornwall’s property and development sector for an opportunity to share knowledge, discuss key industry issues and connect with local peers.

This session will cover two important topics within the planning sector: understanding planning constraints and the recent significant update to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

Understanding Planning Constraints

Liz will take a closer look at the potential risks that can arise from planning constraints and what they really mean for development projects.

The session will explore a range of common planning constraints, including:

  • National Landscapes, formerly Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Heritage assets, including listed buildings, conservation areas and World Heritage Sites
  • Green Belt designations
  • Environmental and ecological constraints, including SACs and SSSIs
  • Other planning considerations that can affect development opportunities

Drawing on her practical planning experience, Liz will explore why these constraints matter beyond a standard planning report and why they should be considered from the earliest stages of a project.

The Latest National Planning Policy Framework Update

The session will also provide an overview of the latest update to the National Planning Policy Framework, recently released by the Government.

Liz will discuss the key changes and what they mean for developers, solicitors and other property professionals, helping attendees understand the potential implications for future planning projects and decision making.

With planning policy continuing to evolve, the session provides a valuable opportunity to understand the latest changes and consider how they may affect development proposals.

Meet the Laurence Associates Team

Liz will be attending alongside Sam Fuller, our Associate Planner, and Jess Eva, our Architectural Technician and Energy Assessor.

Together, they will be available throughout the morning to support the session, answer questions and share their expertise across planning, architecture and energy. If you have a question about a project, planning constraints, the NPPF or how different aspects of the development process work together, the team will be happy to chat.

Join Us at The Alverton

The event begins at 9:30am on Thursday 17th September at The Alverton Hotel in Truro and offers a great opportunity to hear from industry professionals, gain practical insight and connect with others working across Cornwall’s property sector.
