Laurence Associates’ Planning Director to Speak at Groundsure Cornwall Women in Property Event
Laurence Associates is delighted to announce that our Planning Director, Liz Alexander MRTPI, Chartered Town Planner, will be a guest speaker at the upcoming Groundsure Cornwall Women in Property event, taking place in Truro on Thursday 17th September.
The event will bring together professionals from across Cornwall’s property and development sector for an evening of knowledge sharing, discussion and networking. Liz will present an insightful session exploring one of the most important considerations within the planning process, planning constraints and how they can influence the success of development projects.
Understanding Planning Constraints
Planning constraints can have a significant impact on the design, viability and delivery of development proposals. During the session, Liz will explain what these constraints really mean beyond a standard planning report and why they should be carefully considered by anyone involved in the planning and development industry from the earliest stages of a project.
Drawing on her extensive planning experience, Liz will explore a range of common planning constraints, including:
- National Landscapes (formerly Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty)
- Heritage assets, including listed buildings, conservation areas and World Heritage Sites
- Green Belt designations
- Environmental and ecological constraints, including SACs and SSSIs
- Other planning considerations that can affect development opportunities
Through practical examples, attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how these constraints can present both challenges and opportunities, helping to inform better planning decisions and reduce potential risks.
