Planning consent secured for replacement wind turbine

LA are delighted to gain planning consent for a replacement wind turbine near Bideford. This replaces an existing wind turbine which was put up in 2013. The new wind turbine is slightly higher than the existing – but considerably more efficient, with an increase in power from 55 to 225kW.

We provided detailed assessments of impacts including noise, landscape and ecology and carried out a pre-submission public consultation with local residents.

In our submission we stressed that the provision of renewable energy and the associated potential to reduce carbon emissions, should be afforded very substantial weight in favour of the proposal as a public benefit, as outlined in national policy. This includes the benefits of addressing the negative impacts of climate change and addressing UK energy security. This aligns with both local and national strategy and policies of moving Britain and the Torridge area to low carbon energy generation. The provision of renewable energy also accords with Torridge District Council’s Carbon, Environment and Biodiversity Plan.

This is another success managed from our recently opened Exeter office – and a reflection of not only our local knowledge, but also our experience in progressing applications for all types and scales of renewable energy projects.
