SLR Consulting’s Segway Olympics: A Great Afternoon of Competition and Networking

Last Monday, our Associate Planner, Sam, swapped the planning desk for a Segway and joined SLR Consulting’s Segway Olympics, their end of summer event bringing together professionals from across the construction industry.

The event was attended by clients of SLR Consulting, with architects, planners and other professionals from across the built environment coming together for an afternoon of friendly competition, conversation and networking.

From planning to Segway racing

The afternoon certainly offered something a little different from the usual working day. Sam took part in the Segway Olympics, putting his balance and competitive skills to the test alongside other professionals from across the industry.

The competition did not stop there, with Sam also taking part in some off road karting. It was a great opportunity to step away from the office, enjoy some friendly rivalry and spend time with people working across different areas of the construction sector.

Connecting across the construction industry

Events like this are a great reminder of the value of building relationships across the wider industry. While much of our day to day work involves planning, architecture and working closely with clients and consultants, opportunities to meet and connect with other professionals provide a valuable chance to share experiences, strengthen existing relationships and make new connections.

The event brought together people with different roles and expertise, creating a relaxed environment to catch up with familiar faces while meeting others working across the construction sector.

Ending the summer in good company

After the activities, everyone came together for pizza, drinks and plenty of time to chat and network. It was the perfect way to round off the afternoon and enjoy some informal conversations away from the usual working environment.

A big thank you to SLR Consulting for inviting Laurence Associates and for organising such an enjoyable end of summer event.

We had a brilliant time getting involved and look forward to continuing to build relationships with colleagues and professionals across the wider construction industry.
