Energy Consultancy Services at Laurence Associates

Elmhurst Accredited Energy Assessor (OCDEA)

At Laurence Associates we are proud to offer a comprehensive range of in-house energy consultancy services, now enhanced by Jess Eva’s recent qualification as an Elmhurst Accredited Energy Assessor (OCDEA). Jess holds an ABBE Level 3 Certificate in Domestic On Construction Energy Assessment, adding further expertise to our team.

Building on the qualifications already held by the team at Laurence Associates, this allows us to provide our clients with seamless energy consultancy throughout every stage of the project-from initial planning right through to project completion.

Our SAP and Energy Consultancy Services

We specialise in SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) Calculations and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), crucial components of ensuring your project meets current regulations. Our services help building designers, architects, and developers navigate energy compliance smoothly and efficiently. Here’s what we offer:

SAP Calculations & EPCs (Design & As Built)

We deliver SAP Assessments and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) at both the design and completion stages. These calculations are essential for demonstrating compliance with building regulations and provide our clients with vital insights into energy usage, costs, and consumption.

  • Design Stage: At the design stage, we integrate energy performance considerations early, ensuring alignment with your project’s architectural intent.
  • Completion Stage: We offer As Built EPCs to confirm that the final construction meets the energy performance standards set out at the design stage.

This approach supports Cornwall Council’s climate emergency development plan, where all new build planning applications in Cornwall require SAP calculations and an energy statement since June 2023. By providing this service in-house, we help clients save time and costs by avoiding the need for external consultants and ensuring a more efficient process.

PSI Value Calculations (Thermal Bridging)

Our PSI Value Calculations are essential for bespoke and high-performance projects where standard approved details cannot be used. We perform accurate thermal bridging assessments to ensure overall building efficiency and compliance with the SAP, particularly important for passing the Cornwall Council energy tool.

Part O Overheating Assessments

As part of the Building Regulations, overheating risks are considered in all designs. We conduct both the simplified method and dynamic thermal modelling to assess and mitigate overheating risks in line with Part O of the Building Regulations.

Our approach ensures compliance with thermal comfort standards, making certain that your design is both energy-efficient and comfortable for occupants.

Water Efficiency Calculations

Supporting compliance with Part G of the Building Regulations, our water efficiency assessments aim to ensure sustainable water consumption within the design. We assess predicted water use for the development, ensuring that all measures are in place to achieve maximum efficiency and minimal environmental impact.

Here at Laurence Associates, we specialise in bespoke design and due to our ability to provide architectural, planning and landscape advice all in house, we are ideally placed to turn your house dreams into reality.
