2 The Moor
Sitting in the heart of Falmouth’s Conservation Area, the building at 2 The Moor stood out for all the wrong reasons.
The two storey flat-roofed edifice was ill-fitting in the historic port town which has undergone multi-million pound regeneration during the last few years.
Our client engaged us to explore the potential of vertically extending the building; he couldn’t expand horizontally as he didn’t own any of the surrounding land.
Our concept provided flats on the newly-created second floor and converted the ground floor amusement arcade and shop into a restaurant. We reverted to a traditional look and feel for the building, installing timber sliding slash windows and a natural slate roof.
The scheme was commended in the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Awards.
