Nestled on a steep site overlooking the picturesque village of Sennen Cove, in the far west of Cornwall, Gwel-An-Treth enjoys breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic. Its owners tasked us with replacing a tired, outdated bungalow with a design which maximised both the site and the vista.
The house lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and we were mindful of previous opposition to contemporary designs in the surrounding area. Our revised design positioned the building further down the plot, offering views of the sea through the house from the entrance doorway.
A large glazed roof in the open plan living area complements the fully-glazed wall onto the balcony offering uninterrupted views of the horizon. The property is currently being let as a holiday home via Perfect Stays.
