Treloan Barn - Gerrans, Cornwall

The scheme was to convert a range of three high quality, traditional, stone barns to dwellings for Tregothnan Estate. The buildings are set in the countryside to the south of the village of Gerrans on the Roseland peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The proposal to reuse these suitably constructed, redundant, existing buildings would lead to an enhancement of the setting, in accordance with the aims and intentions of Policy 7 of the Cornwall Local Plan and Paragraph 55 (now paragraph 84) of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

Barn B is a traditional hipped roof two storey barn of slatestone rubble construction with natural slate roof. The principal elevation is partly concealed by the original lean to horse engine house which now forms the open plan ground floor living space, retaining the original in situ cast iron horse engine as a central feature.
