Sand Dunes is an impressive, light-filled home built in the countryside south west of Cubert, three miles from Newquay. A two-storey detached property originally occupied the long, thin plot, with a narrow road frontage and extensive views across Penhale Dunes.
Our design proposal was to replace it with a modern, energy efficient house, retaining the original L-shaped footprint, with the bulk of the building extending across the width of the plot.
A large step in the rear elevation and reduced height on the western gable mitigated the visual impact on neighbouring properties. Both the design and use of high quality natural materials are sympathetic to the surrounding landscape. Construction began on site in March 2016 and we were retained throughout the build process to provide a Professional Consultant’s Certificate.
