Tregarrick - Feock, Cornwall

Planning permission was granted in August 2023, for Tregarrick, a 1960’s style split level bungalow on Restronguet Point. The client brief was that they wanted to create a contemporary, cleaner exterior with alterations that allowed them to reconfigure the space on the ground and first floors.

This site is surrounded by residential development with Carrick Roads to the east. The original dwelling exterior was made up of a plain palette of pebble dash white render, concrete pantiles, white PVC windows and was looking very tired and dated.

The Cornwall Local Plan and the Feock Neighborhood Development Plan focus on ensuring high quality design which sustains Cornwall’s sense of distinctiveness and protects and enhances landscape, particularly the natural beauty and special qualities of the AONB and its setting.

The new works included the provision of a rear super dormer clad in zinc, providing a flexible family bedroom space overlooking the estuary, internal modification to create an open plan living, dining and kitchen space on the ground floor, conversion of the garage into a games room, replacement of all windows, new bathrooms, and a cantilevered glass balustrade/balcony area. External materials such as smooth white render, white aluminum framing, anthracite framed windows, vertical cedar cladding and Cornish stone have been introduced.

The clients instantly adored the aesthetic and planning of this design and were grateful that the team were sensitive with regards to their budget without compromising the vision that they had for their home. The project is currently on site with completion in April 2024.
