The Beach House
The Beach House stands proudly on the clifftop at Carbis Bay, close to St Ives on the Atlantic coast. It was built adjacent to the owner’s existing property on land which had formed part of a large garden, enjoying panoramic ocean views.
Our first challenge was to persuade county planners that the scheme was within local and national planning policy guidelines. The second was to design a house which would complement the sensitive clifftop landscape overlooking one of the most picturesque beaches in the country.
A detailed Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) was completed by our team of landscape architects, which helped inform the design and scale of the build. The result: a high-spec contemporary construction with a continuous flow of space between the open living spaces and uninterrupted 180º views through floor-to-ceiling height bay windows.
Design features include irregular room shapes, angle walls, crisp white external render and a natural sedum roof, in harmony with its stunning surroundings.
