St Clair House
St Clair is a Grade 2 Listed Georgian house in Camborne, west Cornwall, currently used as a care home for elderly people. Its owners wished to improve facilities for the residents at the same time as removing ugly extensions which had been added during its lifetime.
We prepared initial concept sketch plans and visualisations, and applied for planning and listed building consent, as well as building regulations. Our vision was to use the listed boundary wall as the outside wall of the extension.
Our design team liaised closely with the planning authority’s conservation officer, detailing numerous aspects of the scheme, including recessed downpipes, roof abutment, glazed links between the buildings, joinery details, and the choice of external finishes.
