Saffron Close

Initially retained for our planning services, we successfully obtained consent to replace the existing detached split-level house at Saffron Close in Fowey, on the south Cornish coast, with a pair of semi-detached homes.

The site was subsequently sold and its new owner asked us to develop an alternative design. It sits adjacent to the Fowey Conservation Area and borders neighbouring properties on either side. We increased the overall level of accommodation by adopting a more contemporary design than initially proposed.

Careful use of the sloping site and the maritime-inspired curved walls enabled our designers to provide accommodation across three floors whilst maintaining privacy and minimising visual impact. The pebbledash has been replaced with crisp white modern thin coat render and timber boarding, entirely in keeping with its coastal setting.
