Pendennis House
Our clients, Prosper Property, wanted to demolish a dated and underused building on Falmouth’s Trescobeas Road and replace it with a 15-bedroomed purpose-built student accommodation unit.
The acute need for student housing in the town is well-documented, but not without controversy. We were retained to design the new building and see the scheme through the planning process.
Our design proposal was to demolish the existing one-and-a-half storey unit, which sat within a largely residential area, and replace it with a two-storey building. It has six bedrooms, a bathroom, and large kitchen and dining area on the ground floor, and seven bedrooms and a bathroom on the first. A further two bedrooms have been built on the second floor, and ten of the rooms are en suite.
Cornwall Council approved the scheme in August 2014, and the build was completed in October 2017.
