Award Winning Housing Development, Goldsithney.

We were hired to design a housing scheme on agricultural land on the outskirts of the small village of Goldsithney, one mile east of Marazion in west Cornwall. The development has won an award for “Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development” in the South West LABC Building Excellence Awards. Click here for LABC website news re the award.

Pre-application meetings were held with the parish council throughout the design process to ensure that the 18-home development was acceptable to the local community.  We took pains to ensure the houses were a worthy curtain raiser at the eastern entrance to the village, using traditional facing and roofing materials, and in proportion to existing homes.

The project, an even split between affordable and open market housing, was approved with little opposition. Our client also agreed to make a donation to the parish council towards improvements to the village hall.
