Senior Town Planner

Laurence Associates is seeking to appoint a Senior Town Planner to join its growing team in Truro, Cornwall.

A chartered RTPI and RIBA practice, our team of in-house planners, architects and landscape architects work collaboratively, offering a fully integrated approach to development, from concept to completion.

We are a well-established, professional and friendly practice with a thorough understanding of the complex planning process and a proven track record for securing planning permission for challenging sites.

We attract nationwide commissions on a range of projects, from high end residential developments and commercial schemes to luxury coastal properties, individually designed homes and renewable energy developments.

Candidates should have experience of handling a broad range of development proposals including major housing and commercial proposals, through local plan, application and appeal process.

Applicants should have at least 5 years’ experience in a planning role and a planning degree or qualification is desirable. Candidates must be proactive, enthusiastic and customer focused, with a relentless drive for excellence.

MRTPI membership is desirable but not essential.

Architectural Technician/ Technologist

We have fantastic opportunity for an experienced architectural technician or technologist to join our team at an exciting time of expansion at our RIBA Cornish chartered practice.

We are a dynamic team of chartered architects, architectural technologists, landscape architects and town planners that work together closely and collectively to offer our clients a fully integrated approach to development.

We are looking for an ambitious, self-motivated team member to join us with relevant experience in delivering high end residential projects from planning stage through to construction phase.

Key areas of responsibility:

Producing drawings for planning and building applications and detailed tender packages ·producing tender and construction phase drawing packages, and schedules of work.
Liaising directly with external consultants e.g. structural and civil/mechanical engineers to obtain specific technical details to include within drawings. Attending on-site meetings and managing queries as required.

Skills:

Keen eye for detail.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of detailed technical design and construction methods.

Technical:

Understanding of UK building regulations, LABC, NHBC and associated construction guidance and third-party warranty requirements.
Project Management: the ability to work on simultaneous projects with a quick turnaround of thorough, detailed, accurate drawings ·ability to prepare detailed and fully coordinated working drawing packages within agreed timescales.
Managing tender processes: documentation, issuing and analysing Contract administration: understanding and experience in administering building contracts, issuing instructions and dealing with requests for information. ArchiCAD experience is ideal or experience using 3D drawing software.

Essential:

Relevant industry qualification, ideally CIAT membership or working towards MCIAT.
Current eligibility to work in the UK and good written and spoken English.

Senior Landscape Architect 

Laurence Associates is a specialist consultancy that is currently seeking a Landscape Architect to join its busy and rapidly growing landscape architecture department.

Laurence Associates works on a wide and diverse range of projects in all sectors and all over the country. This ambitious and growing company is looking for a Landscape Architect who is keen to develop and progress within the Company.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

The role involves working collaboratively with the planning and design teams to assist on master planning for residential, commercial and industrial projects.  You will produce landscape and visual impact assessments for ‘standalone’ reports and as part of environmental impact assessments.

You will provide high quality work within agreed time, budget and quality frameworks, whilst ensuring technical aspects of projects are well managed to deliver effective solutions whilst ensuring client satisfaction.  You will engage in direct contact with clients as well as building and maintaining effective relationships.

Main responsibilities include:

Preparation of master plans;

Production of visualisations;

Undertaking LVIA assessments;

Report writing, in particular compiling the LVIA and non-technical chapters of environmental statements and reports;

Liaising with clients, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders;
Developing client relationships;
Technical proposal writing.

The candidate must have:

A relevant degree qualification;
A full UK driving licence;
Practical experience;
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

It is desirable that the candidate has:

Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (or equivalent);
Experience in landscape and visual impact assessment for renewable energy projects;
Experience of landscape and urban design relating to new development and regeneration;
Commercial awareness and client facing experience;
The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;
A commitment to personal and continuing professional development;
The ability to organise and develop their own work with minimal supervision.
