Laurence Associates were instructed to design three detached residential dwellings on a parcel of land within the village of Botallack, which falls inside the AONB as well as the St Just Mining World Heritage Site. Enveloped by residential development to the north and west, the site lends itself well to infill residential development.
The traditional, high quality design of the dwellings sits well within the context of the surrounding area. Natural stone frontages combined with stone clad and painted render elevations, and the use of natural slate roofs and painted timber windows reflects the vernacular material palette of the area. The layout and orientation of dwellings provides spacious plots and ensures that the development presents itself well in local views from the roadside and village centre.
The scale and design of the development makes effective and efficient use of the land, whilst ensuring the visual amenity of the area remains uncompromised.
Planning permission was granted by Cornwall Council in November 2016.
