Laurence Associates: planning, architecture, landscape

St Austell Brewery

Plume of Feathers, Portscatho

We were commissioned to design the entire first floor of the pub to provide 5 bed and breakfast letting rooms all with en-suite facilities in the 17th Century traditional Cornish coastal public house.

The challenging part of the scheme was working with the constraints of the old building and the limited space available to provide the clients desired accommodation. It was necessary to work closely with both the structural and acoustic engineer to bring all the elements of scheme together to satisfy the requirements for building control, whilst maintaining the character and charm of the traditional building.

Laurence Associates prepared the design drawings for building control and the construction phase, attended pre-construction project meeting and over saw the construction phase working closely with the main contractor for the duration of the build process.

Work was completed May 2016.
