Laurence Associates were instructed to design a bespoke dwelling within the curtilage of the client's daughter's residential complex on the edge of the village of Relubbus . Our client had previously been working with another firm of planning consultants and architects and felt they need a fresh approach to the proposals. The building was to be sited on the footprint of an existing single storey stone outbuilding that was not not considered appropriate for conversion and did not meet our clients' needs.
The design proposal was simple and traditional in its form, providing accommodation over two floors, whilst maintaining the appearance of a single storey converted rural outbuilding, with natural stonework walls with treated timber infil boarding panels and natural slate roof. The building also has a contemporary and modern feel with the inclusion of the large glazed aluminium bi-fold doors and roof windows.
Planning was granted on the re-submission of the scheme to the Council addressing the siting the of the dwelling within the curtilage of the existing site. Detailed construction drawings were prepared for the purposes of building regulation approval and our architectural team and SAP Assessors advised the clients on the energy performance of the proposed fabric and U-Values for the proposal.
The project is to be completed in late 2015.
