We initially provided planning services to the owner of this site and their architect on a scheme for the replacement of the original detached split level house with a pair of semi-detached houses. We submitted a planning application for the proposal and successfully obtained planning permission.
The site was sold and the new owner approached us to discuss the possibility of an alternative design. The site is adjacent to the Fowey Conservation Area and was in close proximity to neighbouring dwellings on either side. We considered that a more contemporary design may offer the possibility of increasing the overall level of accommodation provided and would deliver a pair of attractive modern dwellings.
Careful use of the slope of the site and the maritime-inspired curved shape of the building enabled our designers to provide three floors of accommodation whilst still maintaining privacy and minimising visual impact for the inhabitants of the dwellings and those of their neighbours.
